To begin with, there is a generic outline for a historical essay in my Hardhat History website. This is, of course, generic. Working from that, on the basis of experience, I have devised a recommended outline for papers on historical monuments. That outline is a Word doc attached to this page. Call it up, open it, save it, use it, adapt it as necessary, add to it.

Thanks for posting, Betsy. The plan is sound, but I sense a little blurring between the section on the memory group(s) and the following section on "upstream" events. The former focuses on the people doing the monument-making; the latter focuses on those being celebrated by the monument; these two, of course, may overlap.
