HIST 489 (Fall 2007) BiographyAmanda Peterson was born in Fargo, North Dakota. Excluding one minor stint in Florida, she has lived there all of her life. She first gained a love of history from her parents, one which has grown with her over the years. She would especially like to thank her high school history teacher, Professor Oberholtzer, who not only expanded her love of History but also taught her the valuable lesson of being critical of historical documents. Amanda is currently pursuing a degree in Public History at North Dakota State University. She would one day like to restore old buildings.Prospectus for Paper This semester I will be writing a paper on the Spanish War Memorial in Grafton, ND. I will be looking at the reason for its creation and what significance it has in Walsh County; both in its history and today. I expect to use historical documents pertaining to Company C (who the monument is for), Walsh County, and Grafton in particular. I think this is a monument that once meant a lot to the people of Grafton. It now seems to be a mostly-forgotten shrine in remembrance of a mostly-forgotten war.Required Links - Bibliography for YourName
