Chloe Quirk

HIST 489 (Fall 2007)
Chloe Quirk went to high school in Mankato Minn. She is currently finishing her history/social science education double major. The first four years of her college career she was busy playing volleyball and traveling around the U.S. This final year of school she plans to be just as busy as the last four working with the volleyball team as a student assistant and finishing her degree.

Prospectus for Paper

Chloe's monument is the Ringling Brothers Circus Monument in Wahepton North Dakota. The monuments commemorates the fallen circus workers that died during a storm. The workers were setting up a tent when a bolt of lighting struck the tent and collapsed. The monument is a replica of the stricken pole, rope, pulley, and chain used to raise the big top tent. Chloe expects to use newspaper articles about the event and any letters or other primary sources she can find. She is going to look at every angle. The secondary sources that she plans to use are books and journals. The Ringling Brothers Circus monument is a forgotten monument created by the people that new the workers.

Hey Chloe do you still have that Dakota Day trips book I lent you awhile back? I should get that back from you sometime soon.

Chloe, if there is anything other than what you have written on your profile that you would like me to say when I introduce you, just shoot me an e-mail or tell me in class.

OK Chloe, after our conversation this morning, you know what I'm going to say! Take a look at the prospectus and edit for style. Otherwise, you're in good shape with this. Thanks for posting.

Chloe, good to see you getting a home page in place. Now, I'm going to ask you to make some revisions. You've written your bio sketch in first person. Nothing wrong with first person, in its place, but I'd say the place for this first-person bio is in your profile. Put it there, and then rework your statement in third person for posting on the home page. (I've been going through the same process with everyone else; writing in third person will be important for formal work in the course.)
